As hospital beds are fast filling up with COVID-19 patients requiring immediate attention, the World Health Organization recommends home isolation for mild cases.

What Should You Do In Case of Mild Symptoms?

First and foremost, don’t panic and try to stay positive.

If you experience fever or a continuous cough you should self-isolate immediately.

Drink enough water and other fluids to stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol as this will make you more dehydrated.

People are advised to take complete rest and move only if they have to go to the washroom. It’s advisable to eat alone in their room.

A caregiver has to follow the protection of masks, sanitization, and also maintaining distance. This will protect other family members from the infection.

Breathing exercises are extremely important and that must be done twice a day.

Home treatment requires having a pulse oximeter and a notebook to note the symptoms.

Only if oxygen levels are below 90 then it requires attention and the hospital must be contacted.

If you have antibiotics lying around at home, do not take them to treat coronavirus. As it is a virus, antibiotics will not improve coronavirus.

If your illness is worsening or your symptoms haven’t improved after seven days, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
